Five Cities, Three Days, Many Encounters: My NRW Tour 🇺🇸 🇩🇪

Of course, social media connects us all in some way. A heart here, a comment there, sometimes even a longer message. But do you know that feeling? That quiet sense that something gets lost between all the clicks and likes? The real encounter, the direct conversation, the shared laughter over a story that you really can't tell digitally?

As I recently hinted, I'm venturing into something new this year: I'm coming to you. The first leg of my Germany tour takes me to North Rhine-Westphalia. Not just as the photographer behind the images in your feed or in my photo book, but as someone who wants to meet you in person.

On April 5th, my little odyssey begins in Münster. The next day, I'll continue to Bochum, Wuppertal, and Düsseldorf — yes, you read that right, three cities in one day. The tour concludes on April 7th in the city with the most beautiful cathedral in the world (sorry, Münster!): Cologne.

What can you expect? Well, for one, the opportunity to receive my photo book directly from my hands — no shipping costs, but instead, I'll share some stories about the images hidden between the pages. Stories I usually only tell my camera.

And since we're on the topic: Yes, I'm bringing my camera. At each stop, there's an opportunity for a private photo shoot. Discrete, personal, just as you know it from me. The appointments are limited — after all, I want to take time for each person, real time, not just a fleeting moment.

Why am I doing all this? Perhaps because lately, I've been thinking more and more about something my old photography professor used to say: "A picture may say a thousand words, but it's the conversation about it that brings it to life." Or simply because I believe it's time to step out from the shadows behind the camera.

Fünf Städte, drei Tage, viele Begegnungen: Meine NRW-Tour

Natürlich, die sozialen Medien verbinden uns alle irgendwie. Ein Herz hier, ein Kommentar da, manchmal sogar eine längere Nachricht. Aber kennen Sie das? Dieses leise Gefühl, dass zwischen all den Klicks und Likes etwas verloren geht? Die echte Begegnung, das direkte Gespräch, das gemeinsame Lachen über eine Geschichte, die man eigentlich gar nicht digital erzählen kann?

Wie ich kürzlich bereits angedeutet habe, wage ich dieses Jahr etwas Neues: Ich komme zu Ihnen. Die erste Etappe meiner Deutschland-Tour führ mich nach Nordrhein-Westfalen. Nicht nur als der Fotograf hinter den Bildern in Ihrem Feed oder in meinem Bildband, sondern als jemand, der Ihnen persönlich begegnen möchte.

Am 5. April beginnt meine kleine Odyssee in Münster. Tags darauf geht es weiter nach Bochum, Wuppertal und Düsseldorf — ja, Sie lesen richtig, drei Städte an einem Tag. Den Abschluss macht am 7. April die Stadt mit dem schönsten Dom der Welt (sorry, Münster!): Köln.

Was erwartet Sie? Nun, zum einen die Möglichkeit, meinen Bildband direkt aus meinen Händen zu empfangen — keine Versandkosten, dafür aber gerne die eine oder andere Geschichte zu den Bildern, die sich zwischen den Seiten verstecken. Geschichten, die ich normalerweise nur meiner Kamera erzähle.

Und weil wir schon beim Thema sind: Ja, ich bringe meine Kamera mit. An jedem Stopp gibt es die Möglichkeit für ein privates Fotoshooting. Diskret, persönlich, so wie Sie es von mir kennen. Die Termine sind begrenzt — schließlich möchte ich mir für jeden Menschen Zeit nehmen, richtig Zeit, nicht nur einen flüchtigen Moment.

Warum ich das alles mache? Vielleicht, weil ich in letzter Zeit immer öfter an einen Satz meines alten Fotografie-Professors denken muss: "Ein Bild mag tausend Worte sagen, aber erst das Gespräch darüber macht es lebendig." Oder einfach, weil ich glaube, dass es Zeit ist, aus dem Schatten hinter der Kamera hervorzutreten.
