The English photographer Rankin is known in this country probably at the latest through the tv show Germany's Next Top Model. I'll never forget how he motivated one of the girls during a shoot on the entertainment show by exclaiming "Use your fuckin' eyes!". I could sympathize so much.

Rankin created undeniably remarkable portraits over the years and you can still admire them at the Ernst Leitz Museum until September 27, 2023. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission costs 11 €.
Also on display is a portrait series in which Rankin took photos of young people and then had them use an app to optimize their images themselves. These before-and-after images are a shocking look at self-perception and the optimization craze of our time.
