Buy cheaper due to reduced VAT

In an unexpected statement, German chancellor Angie Merkel announced to introduce a temporary reduction of the German VAT rates. The measure is part of a huge stimulus package aimed to reduce the economic impact of the Corona pandemic and boost domestic demand.

Good news! The German government decided to reduce the value added tax from July 1st to December 31st, 2020. The idea is to support people who suffered from the Corona crisis and to give the economy a boost.

When I heard it, I immediately knew that I did not want to use this as an excuse to increase my income. Therefore, I am passing on the reduction straight to you.

From Wednesday, July the 1st, you can buy all articles on my website with reduced VAT. The VAT used to be 19% on calendars and 7% on books. The reduced VAT will be: 16% for calendars and 5% for books.

It's not a huge saving, I have to admit, but like they say: Take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves.

In numbers that means, when you buy a book on my website, you save 90 cents or 91 cents when ordering a calendar.

I would call this good news or when was the last time you have seen the government reducing the taxes?
