I like photographing women who are about to do something. To be the silent observer with my camera. Capturing different perspectives and working in an almost documentary way.
Of course, what you see is not documentary. At the same time, I'm like a conductor and provide a structure. The comparison is somehow misleading. In any case, I put a lot of thought into my work beforehand and collected the objects from various places.
I was immediately fascinated by the French plant book. It's the kind of book you put in your cupboard just because it looks good. Not because you need it.
And the tarot cards from the esoteric store. I needed them straight away too. Because somehow an object like that also has a certain atmosphere. A vibe that it radiates. It all came together for me.
But I particularly like the picture of the bedroom door. A black door with piano lacquer. How crazy is that! Fantastic. Please note the reflection and the seemingly transparent door or third hand that can be seen. A marvel of nature.
Other photographers tell me again and again that they chat and talk on the phone with models intensively for weeks before they do a shoot. When I hear something like that, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
I almost always meet a model without any preliminary discussions. Two strangers — model and photographer — meet alone for the first time. Somehow that's where the tension lies for me. The magic of the unknown. Maybe I just unconsciously revealed a secret about my work. I don't know.
