How time flies

I turned fifty this year, and at fifty, your sense of time changes. The clock doesn't tick faster, but the years seem to. You look back and marvel at how short decades can feel that seemed endless while you were living them. At the same time, every single moment gains weight.

My calendar turns nineteen. Since 2009, I've been dividing twelve months into images, and the fact that this has become nineteen editions illustrates exactly this paradox: it feels like yesterday and like half a lifetime at once. Perhaps that's why I see the women I photograph with different eyes today. Each of them is at a point in life that won't return, and it's precisely this fleeting nature that makes the images so valuable to me.
